Driven Entrepreneur Enjoys Advantages of a Home-Based Business
As far back as I can remember I have always been an entrepreneur. In college, I ran a home painting business. A few years ago, I started tutoring people in computer applications. When I heard about Arise, I knew it was a natural fit.

My full time job is with an international shipping company, but when I get home I take calls as a Client Support Professional. Working in a T-shirt and shorts in my home office allows me to feel relaxed. As a benefit for incorporating as a business, I was able to write off my computer, supplies and certification on last year’s taxes. The best part is that I can supplement my income from my full-time job and get experience in sales and tech support for a nationally recognized brand, skills that I intend to use later on in my career.

Busy Mom Finds Balance Between Career and Home Life
As a working mother of four, I’m constantly on the go picking my kids up from school, shuttling them to soccer and gymnastics or cooking dinner for my family. But while most busy moms are fast asleep at 3:45AM., I am often wide awake taking a steady stream of phone calls from customers on East Coast time at my home in Arizona.

For me, the early morning hours work perfectly. By the time my kids wake up around 7:00AM, I will have already serviced more than three hours uninterrupted. The flexible scheduling even allows me to pick up short 30-minute shifts while my daughter spends time with friends. It means a lot to me that I can afford the "extras" for my kids: the Playstation games for my son, new backpacks in the fall or family trips in the summer. I have the best of both worlds. I am able to provide an additional income and still be at home with my family.

Smooth Transition from Corporate America to Arise
Seeing my old friends from my previous career as a banker reminds me of the way I used to be: tired, worn-out and desperately in need of a vacation. After 17 years in the field, I knew I was ready for a change. I was bored, tired of office politics and bad traffic, and most of all I was ready to take on new challenges. So when my husband and I relocated to Texas last year for his job, I relished the opportunity to start fresh in a new career.

Arise Makes Re-Stationing Easy for Military Spouse
Almost two years ago, I was out of work and searching for work that seemed impossible to find. As a military spouse, I need the flexibility to work around my two young children’s schedules, take vacations on short notice if my husband, who is on active duty-has time off, and receive enough compensation to justify expenditures such as gas prices and childcare costs. During my search, employers would lose interest in hiring me, as they knew I might leave on short notice if my husband was re-stationed.

My experience as a traditional tech support professional will be familiar to others in my field. Working in a corporate office setting, I often put in 90-hour-work weeks but was only compensated for 40 of them. As a corporate call center agent, I was glued to the phone for hours on end trying to sort through angry callers’ situations without adequate training or supervisor support. When a fellow techie told me about Arise, it almost sounded too good to be true.

I’ve been working from home since March 2005. I’m paid for the time and quality of my work and with Arise’s certification programs and mentors, I’m never stuck not knowing what to do. Living near the beach it was always tempting to play hooky from work. Rural Retiree Overcomes Geographic Work Boundaries
To get to the nearest shopping center, it takes 45 minutes and costs $17 in tolls. Even the Kmart close to us had to shut down for lack of business. But for my husband and me, the location is perfect. We’re close to his parents, who are in their 70s, and my mother, who is in her late 80s. Best of all, we live on a 60-acre farm with pasture for our eight horses.

We also live in the poorest county in Virginia, and the economic opportunities for retirees are few and far between. It is virtually impossible to work for a well known company without having to travel, and even then the gas and tolls are not worth the trip.

When I heard about Arise on television, I knew this was the opportunity for which I had been searching. As a Client Support Professional, I can supplement my retirement with extra money, ride my horses whenever I want and keep myself busy so I won’t get bored. I spent many years in the workforce on someone else’s schedule; now I’m free to work on my own time.

Injured Vet Works around Pain Limitations
Twenty years ago during basic training for the military I suffered a hip injury. To this day I live with chronic pain. I am unable to sit in one place for more than an hour and a half. Finding a job flexible enough to accommodate my injury was difficult. For a while I worked as a file clerk at a car dealership where I was able to sit and stand as often as needed. But at $8 per hour, my take-home pay after covering my expenses was not enough.

Today, I have been a Client Support Professional for more than five years. My service shifts last from an hour to an hour and a half, but flexible scheduling allows me to work in as little as 30-minute increments. In between shifts, I take breaks for swimming or therapeutic soaks in the hot tub. My income from my independent business is far more than minimum wage, and I am rewarded for the quality of my work, not just the quantity.

Living with chronic pain is an enormous challenge that can significantly diminish one's quality of life. But I believe I found an opportunity that makes it easier to cope with.
