In 2008, Americans were exposed to roughly 33 gigabytes of information each day, per a study conducted by researchers at the University of California San Diego. That’s the equivalent of a 47-hour Netflix streaming binge (I know, sounds like heaven). That number increased to 63 gigabytes of information per day in 2012. So how can we intake more hours of information than the time allotted in a 24-hour period? According to new research by the University of California San Diego, it’s the increase of our multi-tasking behaviors that allows for this bombardment of multiple content streams. Side note – media exposure does not necessarily equate to comprehension of or attention to said media. That same study predicted that by 2015, Americans would be consuming about 15.5 hours of media per day (not accounting for workplace time).

The real question you should ask yourself is how is this impacting your workforce productivity?

According to a 2014 Proactive Time Management & Optimization study conducted by Salary.com, out of the 750 employee respondents, 89% said they waste time at work daily. A quick breakdown from that study:

* 31% waste roughly 30 minutes daily

* 31% waste roughly 1 hour daily

* 16% waste roughly 2 hours daily

* 6% waste roughly 3 hours daily

* 2% waste roughly 4 hours daily

* 2% waste roughly 5 or more hours daily

Prior to joining Arise, Jose interned at IBM as part of the Digital Strategy division, where he was charged with optimizing the digital IBM user experience for premier IBM products/services. Most importantly, this is where he first developed his passion for Digital Strategy and the ever-evolving frontier that is Digital Marketing. During his first rotation at Arise, Jose was tasked with being the Associate Project Manager for the company wide website revamp of Arise Virtual Solutions. Throughout his tenure with the marketing team, he sought involvement in every facet of the department ranging from writing copy for the site to link building to SEO optimization. He always seeks a challenge and has an insatiable curiosity. He sees Marketing as the perfect marriage of the creative and the analytical, and hopes to develop his career in the marketing profession.

Jose graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with a dual Emphasis in Marketing & Entrepreneurship, from the Kenan-Flagler Business School.
