Chief Executive Officer
John A. Meyer is Chief Executive Officer of Arise Virtual Solutions and a member of the Arise Board of Directors. John joined the company in 2011 to drive the organization’s growth, set the strategic vision and manage the global operations of the business. John has over 28 years of leadership experience with large publicly traded organizations, and building high growth organizations in both the United States and internationally.
Prior to joining Arise in 2011, John served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Acxiom Corporation, a $1.2 billion global interactive marketing services company with more than 6,500 employees. Previously, he served as President of the Global Services group of Alcatel-Lucent for five years, where he was responsible for more than $6 billion in annual revenue and the management of more than 20,000 people. Prior to joining Lucent, he spent almost 20 years in a number of high-profile positions at Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS), including Chairman of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Operating Team, President of Diversified Financial Services and Credit Services Divisions, and CIO for the company’s GMAC business. John’s global, multi-industry experience at EDS was marked by numerous successes, including doubling revenue in EMEA from $3.6 billion to $7.2 billion in four years.
Before entering the business world, John served as a flight commander and was selected as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He holds a MBA from the University of Missouri and a BS in management from Pennsylvania State University.
Chief Operating Officer
Scott Etheridge is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Arise. Scott is responsible for leading and managing the Global Financial, Independent Business, and Technology Operations. Scott has over 15 years of senior leadership experience, and is also responsible for working with the CEO in developing overall company strategy and growth, including international expansion.
Before joining Arise in 2009, Scott was the Vice President and CFO of the Partnered Brands division of Liz Claiborne, where he led a $1.5 billion global wholesale operation. Prior to joining Liz Claiborne, Scott spent 11 years at NBCUniversal, a former subsidiary of General Electric, where he served in numerous leadership roles. His most recent role was Senior Vice President and CFO for NBCUniversal International. In that role he led $3 billion in annual sales and was responsible for international expansion.
Scott is an Auburn University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting. While at GE, Scott earned General Electric’s Six Sigma Quality Certification and graduated from the GE Experienced Financial Leadership Program, and the GE Management Development Course. He has also served as a member of the Finance Committee of the New York Chapter of American Red Cross.
Senior Vice President, General Counsel
Lisa R. Carstarphen is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Arise. Lisa joined Arise in December 2011 and is responsible for leading the Arise legal team, as well as providing corporate governance leadership and legal counsel to the Arise senior executive team.
Prior to joining Arise, Lisa served as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Russell Hobbs, Inc. (formerly known as Salton, Inc. and Applica Incorporated) for over ten years where she was responsible all legal matters for the company, including securities, corporate finance and corporate governance matters. Before Russell Hobbs, Inc. Lisa was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, P.A. and served as Vice President, Associate Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary of Capital Bancorp, a bank holding company.
Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and over 20 years of broad-based legal experience in providing boards of directors and senior corporate management of public and private companies with counseling on a wide variety of legal matters.
Lisa received her Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina, where she served as a member of the North Carolina Law Review, and her undergraduate degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Miami. Lisa is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer
Emily Hofer is the Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer for Arise. Emily joined Arise in 2008 and is responsible for Human Resources operating in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Ireland.
Prior to joining Arise, Emily served in various Human Resource roles at Frito-Lay North America and McDonald’s Corporation. Throughout her 15 year career in Human Resources, Emily has focused on designing and delivering innovative approaches to attracting and developing top talent, developing a world-class learning organization, managing compliance and employee relations, as well as building competitive compensation and benefits programs.
Emily is a graduate of Florida International University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer
Martin Ingram is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Arise. Martin joined Arise in April 2012 and is responsible for all information technology of the organization.
Prior to joining Arise in 2012, Martin served as Vice President of Global Critical Accounts and Services Engineering at Avaya Corporation, where he was responsible for multiple global teams across five different organizations in both services and development that provided support for Avaya services and Avaya customers globally.
Before Avaya, Martin held several executive roles at Oracle Corporation during his tenure of over eight years. Most recently, as the Director of Enterprise Systems Management Global Support Team, Martin directed support operations, including skills development, process analysis, tool building and implementation, development feedback and customer advocacy for the Server Technology teams.
Martin is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Florida, and holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from North Carolina State University.
Senior Vice President and General Manager
Robert Padron is Senior Vice President and General Manager at Arise. Robert is responsible for supporting clients in the Telecommunications and Travel industries. Robert joined Arise in 2010 as Director of Client Results, focusing on the company’s large scale client base and developing operational practices that could be leveraged across Arise’s client base.
Prior to joining Arise in 2010, Robert spent 15 years at Precision Response Corporation as Senior Director of Client Services. There he was responsible for expanding relationships with key clients in the company’s cable support and logistics support business units with consistent results delivery and growth. Over his tenure there, he held multiple roles within organizational development, operations, client services and project management providing him with a breadth of experience to understand the business holistically.
Robert holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in business administration and the other in music from the University of Miami. He has a Masters of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.
Senior Vice President, Independent Business Operations
Peter Schiller is the Senior Vice President of Independent Business Operations. Peter joined Arise in 2008 and is currently responsible for delivering top talent through our Independent Business network. During his tenure with Arise, Peter has been responsible for the establishment, and has served as the head, of the Performance Compliance organization.
For over 17 years, Peter has specialized in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) management and online health and physician advertising. His professional career includes executive and management positions at Everyday Health Inc., 1800flowers.com, and WorldCom, where he focused on division general management, large scale operations, strategy, and process improvement.
Peter is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and received a Bachelor of Science in Banking & Finance from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY.
Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development
Daren Gonzalez is Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Arise. In this role, he is responsible for spearheading Business Development efforts across all verticals and leading the client integration team.
For over 15 years, Daren has specialized in a number of technology solutions including: advanced communications, security, data center outsourcing, managed services, cloud computing, contact center, consulting, and Software as a Service. Throughout his career, Daren has partnered with numerous global enterprise clients to improve operational efficiencies, optimize cost structures, and re-engineer critical business functions that have enhanced customers’ experience.
Prior to joining Arise, Daren was Director of Sales and General Manager for Internap Network Services, an Infrastructure Outsourcing and Cloud Computing company. While there, he led sales, strategy, and marketing for the southwest region, and was responsible for managing key client relationships and implementing a process to address customer churn. Daren led his team to be the #1 region in the company for new logos with 225% year over year growth. Prior to Internap, he was the Director of Enterprise Sales for the Media & Entertainment, Finance, and Utility Verticals at Verizon Enterprise Solutions. While at Verizon, Daren was part of a lean team that was responsible for transforming two business segments from a geography based sales approach to a vertical sales model. Throughout his tenure at Verizon, he sold over $18M in consulting services, managed $100M in services revenue, and implemented a strategic selling approach that was adopted throughout the west region. Daren began his career in technology with AT&T where he spent most of his time as a technology sales principal.
Daren earned his ITILv3 and ITILv2 Foundations Certifications, as well as an intermediate certification for ITILv3 Service Offerings and Agreements.
Daren has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Irvine and was selected to become a member of the National Political Science Honor Society for high academic standing. Daren also has a Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School and has been a member of the California State Bar since 1999.
Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer
Doug is imbued with the military values of hard work, not complaining, working smart, and guided by a spirit of passion and excellence.
Doug is focused on organizational success and dedicated to coaching and leading the entire team across the finish line together to share the fruits of victory. He leads a team of marketing rock stars dedicated to building an unfair advantage for Arise, using our greatest asset, our people. His team is building the Arise brand and awareness in the industry, and enabling the sales team in order to draw new prospective clients into the Arise portfolio.
Doug believes that life is to be experienced, and as such he has traveled the world, served in the North Carolina House of Representatives, is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. He is the father of four beautiful children, and enjoys the gym, running, cycling, hiking, and is on an endless search for the tastiest craft beer in the Southeast!
Vice President and General Manager
James Jarrett is Vice President and General Manager of Client Results at Arise. In his role, James is responsible for delivering results to some of the largest global brands in the telecommunications, consumer services and tech industries, while also developing and executing operational best practices across the organization. James joined Arise in 2009 as Vice President, Business Development, responsible for building strategic partnerships with game-changing clients.
James started his career as Lead Electrical Systems Product Manager for the Department of Energy's Naval Nuclear Propulsion Directorate. In this role, he was responsible for a $300M overhaul of key reactor control systems for the U.S. Navy's fleet of aircraft carriers and was eventually promoted to General Manager. After receiving his MBA, James joined Intuit as a Product Manager and led several initiatives to innovate QuickBooks through customer-centric design. James went on to found CW Music, which helped Fortune 500 brands drive deeper customer engagement in partnership with touring musicians. Immediately prior to Arise, he held senior leadership roles at two fast growing tech companies where he drove significant revenue through large strategic partnerships, leading to acquisition and top-tier venture capital investment, respectively.
James holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and earned Master's degrees from Virginia Tech (Systems Engineering) and the U.S. Navy (Nuclear Engineering). He started his education at Vanderbilt University where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Senior Vice President and General Manager
Stephen Bengtson is Senior Vice President and General Manager at Arise. In this role, he is responsible for Business Development and delivering client results to some of the world’s most recognized brands.
With over 15 years of leadership experience, Stephen’s professional career has concentrated on developing and managing key client relationships, delivering world-class outsourced services and driving organizational growth strategies with large, publically traded and privately-held technology and services companies.
Prior to joining Arise in 2011, Stephen was Vice President of Finance and Accounting Services for ACS, a Xerox Company providing BPO and IT Outsourcing solutions. While at ACS, Stephen managed over $140 million in Finance and Accounting services and was part of the senior management team that achieved numerous industry accolades including Gartner’s Leaders “Magic Quadrant” for outsourced finance and accounting, employee and customer support services. Stephen earned his Six Sigma Quality Green Belt Certification with ACS and drove the company’s Lean/Six Sigma quality process capabilities throughout client and service delivery organizations worldwide.
Stephen holds a Masters of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of San Diego, CA.
Senior Vice President and General Manager
Tom Maddux is Senior Vice President and General Manager at Arise. Tom is responsible for client relationship management, operational delivery and business development for clients in the Retail, Ecommerce, Healthcare and Insurance industries.
Tom has 30 years of executive management experience in the international business services outsourcing market including BPO, KPO and ITO. During this time Tom partnered with numerous multi-national clients to improve operational delivery, enhance customer experience and optimize financial performance.
Prior to joining Arise in 2014, Tom was President & COO for Center Partners (WPP), President at Sitel and Apex Covantage, and Vice President at Convergys, Fortis and Wachovia. In these roles, he worked across a wide variety of verticals and geographies.
Tom has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wofford College. He completed Tuck Executive Program (TEP) from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Tom also participated in the Fellows Program at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania for three years.
Vice President & General Manager, Arise EMEA
Keir is the Vice President & General Manager of Arise EMEA, and is responsible for the implementation, operational delivery and relationship management of prospect, new and existing Clients in the European portfolio. Keir leads a talented Management Team, all of whom work from home, to facilitate the delivery of virtual BPO services to market leading brands through the Arise platform. Keir joined Arise in 2009, has a background in staffing solutions and currently resides in the north west of the UK.
Vice President, Business Development – Travel & Hospitality
Scott Bell is a sales and marketing executive with deep career roots in Travel and Hospitality. Scott is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin and upon graduation did a two year stint in non-profit work. Bit by the travel bug in 1986, Scott’s first travel industry job was with Thomson Vacations in Cancun, Mexico as a Resort Representative. Since then his jobs have included positions with cruise lines, hotels, car rental companies and retail/wholesale operators. Additionally, Scott’s has camped alongside the travel industry as a sales executive in online travel research and more recently contact center outsourcing.
Scott’s extensive professional network reflects his work of several decades and the correlating hundreds of conferences and cocktail receptions. Scott has been an active blogger that is passionate about domestic sourcing and not shy to express his loathe to accept the substandard service that often comes from offshore contact center experiences.
An enthusiastic traveler, Scott has visited 30+ countries and flown over 3 million miles. Open water swimming and cycling are a few of his favorite activities; both of which could more likely shorten his life than the intended opposite. Scott is married with two adult daughters and lives in suburban Chicago.

Vice President, Business Development - Generalist
Tim Savitt is an accomplished, high-energy sales executive and trusted advisor, with global customer service expertise within the retail/ecommerce, technology, telecommunications, travel and financial industries. He is a decisive, results-oriented team builder and motivator, with a passion for creating and delivering on business objectives.
Tim has been providing customer care solutions for Fortune 500 companies for over 15 years and remains passionate about helping clients realize customer service excellence via Omni channel communications. He is driven each day knowing that he must successfully deliver on the “promise” of providing an outstanding customer experience for his clients.
Vice President, Business Development – Retail & e-Commerce
Tadd Wilson brings deep retail and e-commerce expertise and a passion for helping brands reshape customer experience. Tadd joined Arise because, in his words, he “loves brand engagement across web, stores, mobile, and voice – but hates the tradeoffs most brands face between quality, flexibility, and cost.”
Prior to joining Arise, Tadd directed business consulting for Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, and served as partner for the world’s largest store-based retailer. Tadd has advised most of the world’s top merchants on serving omni-channel consumers while improving operational efficiency and flexibility. Before Toshiba, Tadd served in global business development, client advisory, and strategy roles for IBM Retail Store Solutions; and as a manager and senior consultant for IBM Strategy and Change. Tadd’s work has taken him to six continents – he’s still waiting for Starbucks to open in Antarctica.
Tadd earned his MBA from UVA’s Darden School, and his BA from UN- Chapel Hill. In between, he helped launch and grow a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving civic literacy. Tadd is married with four children, and lives in rural Virginia near Washington, DC.

Vice President, Business Development – Health & Life Sciences
Kim just started her career with Arise and will leverage her strong Healthcare background to evangelize the power of the Arise platform.
She brings over twenty years of healthcare experience and expertise in working with Physicians, and C-Suite Executives within pharmaceuticals (Marion Merrell Dow), medical devices (Boston Scientific), and Healthcare Organizations seeking best in class performance in services, technology, and outsourcing (MedQuist, Optum, and Genpact).
Her breadth of experience in the healthcare marketplace is coupled with creativity, a passion for her clients, and Lean Six Sigma Certification in order to deliver customized and innovative solutions with a strong financial impact.
Kim holds an M.B.A from John Carroll University, and is also very involved in supporting women’s initiatives locally through the YWCA and the prevention of cruelty to animals through the ASPCA.
