Virtual Call Centers Allow Work at Home

“Donna McKinley found the frustrations of negotiating Atlanta's ferocious traffic so distasteful on her daily commute to work that in November she fired her employer and went to work for herself from home.

“McKinley became a so-called ‘CyberAgent’ for Willow CSN Inc., a Miramar, Fla., company that operates what it calls virtual call centers that have freed about 2,800 people from a daily commute.

“’I was attracted to Willow because of the commute,’ McKinley said recently in a telephone interview. ‘It was horrible. I was not able to spend time with my family or able to go anywhere because of traffic.’

“Willow is recruiting Oklahomans who are willing to do just as McKinley did: incorporate themselves into a Subchapter S corporation and pay up to $400 to join the company's work-from-home ‘CyberCorp.’

“The company is seeking an additional 1,000 agents by the end of the year, said Basil Bennett, Willow's president and chief executive officer.”
